Botulism

Initially, at least three times during gestation, one month apart with the last injection 4 to 6 weeks before parturition.

Annual vaccination 4 to 6 weeks before parturition.

Only in endemic areas.

Local tissue reaction; anaphylaxis (shock) in some animals.

Heat and minor swelling may occur at the injection site.

Equine viral arteritis

Open or maiden mares but at least 3 weeks before breeding.

Do not vaccinate pregnant mares

Biannually

Booster shot 4 to 6 weeks prior to birth of foal.

Rabies Annually, before the breeding season.

Rhinopneumonitis Gravid mares at 5, 7, and 9 months of gestation.

Open and maiden mares at same time as gravid mares.

If mares are beyond 5 months of pregnancy at first vaccination, continue with vaccination very two months until birth
